If you didn’t already know, I am a HUGE musical fanatic! I love performing as it is, but there’s something about musicals that (without meaning to go too into all the mushy stuff), just fills me with happiness and longing to be up on the stage with the performers. The musical numbers are just so energetic and feel-good (and I am sorry, but the harmonic vocals actually make me quite emotional!)

I went to watch my drama groups’ (WSYT) production of ‘Into the Woods’, last Sunday with my Brother and Sister, the three of us all uncertain as to what the storyline was etc. (We had been meaning to watch the Disney version but just hadn’t got round to sparing 3 hours (?!?) of our time, however amazing the casting looked). As I had been unable to take part in the production myself due to school and ALevels (I know which I would rather be spending my time doing!), it was lovely to see my extremely talented friends performing, as an outsider for once.

Into The Woods (WSYT)

The show was absolutely incredible. The large number of casting was spot on, vocals particularly impressive with simple but effective moments of syncrynised ‘trees’ dancing (treeography) in places. The storyline was nothing like I expected, but then at the same time it sort of oddly was in some places (what I had previously judged from trailers and some YouTube clips of the film), but the major thing that I came out thinking was how talented the songwriter was! The songs were so catchy and I’m still playing the soundtrack and singing the odd song every now and then (in particular  “Giants in the sky”. It is definately a show I will go back to rewatch if I get the chance to!

Anyway, I have previously posted my bucket list on another post which you can see here, but that didn’t include the separate bucket list I have designated to Musicals! So far, I have managed to see and perform in a large number, and hopefully this will continue to grow so that I can tick them off as I go. (Also, my Mum just bought tickets to Billy Elliot in the West End for Wednesday Night as a birthday present- Yay!):
